Geocache Description:

This LANGDON PARK of WARD 5 Adventure Lab Bonus Cache is a short and hopefully fun Mystery Cache.  The Posted Coordinates will take you to a convenient location to park for both the related Adventure Lab and this Bonus Cache.  The following coordinates will take you to the starting point (Stage 1) for the short journey to the Final Stage and physical cache.

Stage 1:  N  3 8    5 5 . A B C     W  0 7 6    5 8 . X Y Z

The coordinates for ABC and XYZ can be found by solving the five stages of the LANGDON PARK of WARD 5 Adventure Lab.

Your journey begins at Stage 1 (use solved coordinates above) - batter up!  It's the bottom of the 9th; two outs; tied ball game.  You step up to the plate.  The pitcher throws you a knuckle ball.  You swing the bat hard, and hit the ball in the direction of 180 deg true north over the outfield fence for the winning run (try to imagine the fence).  After slowly rounding the bases to the cheers of the fans and then meeting your teammates back at home plate for high-fives and congratulations, you decide you'd like to retrieve your homerun ball for prosperity.

Remembering the tragectory from home plate (180 deg true north), you go searching.  Along said azimuth and beyond the ball field you spy the entrance to a secret walking trail.  At the trailhead were the outfield grass ends and the trail begins, you count off 45 paces as you follow the trail.  If you travel too far, your trail will meet another trail (turn around and go back 10 paces in the direction from which you came).  At the end of 45 paces, look to your left.  If your measure is true, you will spy an ancient hollow tree stump.  Look within that stump for your homerun ball.  Congratulations, Slugger!

See the HINT if Stage 1 is ever inaccessible.

This Bonus Cache and related Adventure Lab were placed with the help and permission of the DC Department of Parks & Recreation.  Please be respectful of others and always abide by all park rules for your safety and the safety of others.  Happy Geocaching!
