Al Lorenz Park CITO Cache In Trash Out® Event

Come to Livingston County's 80 acre Al Lorenz Park to help cleanup the park from the winter accumulation of sticks and trash to get the park looking great!  We are collaborating with other local groups and Livingston County to coordinate, organize, and participate in this Geocaching Cache In Trash Out event.  Marty De Marte (geonick Allyn Birch), Grant Cox (geonick JediMasterCobra), and Melissa Friscia will be working together to head up this event.  

There will be specific areas designated for geocachers participating in the CITO event to focus on.  There are several paths and some open fields where volunteers will be focusing their activities. 

WHEN:

• Saturday, April 30th, 2022 (9:30am - noon)
• Arrive by 9:30to get signed in, followed by a short orientation with safety instructions.
• Start work by 9:45am

WHERE:

• Al Lorenz Park, Pavilion #4
• Lot nearby for parking (see parking coordinates)
• Groups may move to other areas of the park as needed

WHAT TO BRING:

• Your favorite pair of work gloves. These will not be provided this year
• Weather-appropriate clothing and footwear (boots, hat, dress in layers)
• A pick-up-stick, or garbage-grabber (these tools will NOT be provided)
• All of your favorite fans of geocaching!
• Water (or coffee). These won't be provided

WHAT’S PROVIDED:

• You can fill out a Waiver Form the day of the event if needed.  All volunteers under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a responsible adult 18 years or older.
• Garbage bags
• At the site, you will be provided instructions and directions for a safe, successful day in the park.
• First aid kits will be available.
• Bathrooms will be available nearby and can be found thorughout the park near other pavilions.

OTHER DETAILS:

• If you have not already attended a CITO this spring season, then you will earn a CITO souvenir.  
• There is no fee to enter this park.
• The “Buddy System” is encouraged. If you come on your own, we’ll pair you up with one or more other volunteers, or a work group.
• All volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible person over 18 years old.    
• Each park will be divided into sectors and work groups will be assigned to a sector.
• Dangerous material, heavy items, dead animals, downed trees, etc. are to be left in place and noted back to site leader
• There will be a drop-off spot where you can bring your full trash bags.

• All Covid guidelines in place at the time of the event will be followed.
