The Clare Railway station opened in 1918 operating for 65 years until 1983. It was a station line to Spalding and Riverton branch line. the line carried freight and passengers to the country areas. the Railway station also included the Station masters house built close by, a goods handling shed, a hand operated turn table, weighbridge, crane, ashpit,and watering points. Water for the steam trains was Gravity fed from Neagles Rock Reservoir to the railway, also along the railway line was 4 railway cottages to house railway workers. In 1925 a 30 ton weighbridge was installed and also electric lights. In this area you will also see the old Turn table was located the origional turn table was relocated to Mount Barker Junction.Over time the service decline and deteriation of the line. In the year of 1983 brought devestation to the Clare Ash Wednesday Fire that destroyed the rail way line sleepers this fire finally saw the final closure of the railway line into the Clare area for ever. So offically in 1984 the Riverton to Spalding railway line was closed forever as the cost to replace was not viable. in 1988 the Clare Railway station was demolished. after many yaers in 1994 the reisling trail way opened as a walking trail and bike riding trail.
