This cache was placed to "guard" the entrance to the archery range.
This is a great area to visit. Park and take a short walk to the GZ. The park offers multiple family activities.
Below the dam there are steps going down to the river bank for fishing, bird watching. There is also an archery range, although I suggest you watch from a distance. Above the dam there is nice park along the lake edge where folks stroll or fish, and a grassy area with picnic shelters, grills, and rest rooms, and all seems to be very well maintained. Those shelters clearly are well used. At one, a church was holding an event, at another, a large family was holding a baby shower when we were there. There is lots of parking and green space between. There is also a visitor center with information and maps about all of the lakes and dams on the Cumberland River and tributaries. At the time of cache publication, this VC is only open Monday to Friday 7 - 4.30 pm.
