Florida Bonneted Bat (Eumops floridanus) is the rarest bat in the United States. This species has suffered habitat loss due to rapid land development and climate change, which increases the intensity and frequency of storms, reducing natural roost availability.  It is endemic to southern Florida in the United States. This species has one of the smallest geographical distributions of any New World bat. It has been called "one of the most critically endangered mammal species in North America". It is protected under the Endangered Species Act.

Placement of this geocache has been approved by Rob Rossmanith, Park Biologist.  Please remember, all wheels off the paved road when parking.  Do not block any gates or trailheads and follow the posted speed limits.
