GOLD was discovered near what is now the intersection of Rainbow Road and where Mosman Street becomes Blackjack RoadĀ in 1871. The cache page hasĀ a photoĀ from the Charters Towers Archive GroupĀ and Visit Charters Towers. It shows Jupiter MossmanĀ revisitingĀ the site ofĀ GOLDĀ discovery in 1929. We think the actual area isĀ a little further around the hill and lower towards Tower Hill Road, but not far away.
The easiest way to get to theĀ GOLD letterboxĀ is to park in the car park opposite Towers Hill RoadĀ and walk around to the access point on Rainbow Road near several posts. Head up hill a llttle way then bare right to follow a track towards the power lines andĀ listed coordinates.
Try to remove the top covering rocks only to access the cache.
You will need to use a 4 letter word to access the cache.
The cache contains a log book, pen, stamp (please leave the stamp - cachers can use it in their own letter box records).
Is also contains aĀ GOLD tin with 2 unactivated trackables early finders choice, and dropped another trackable at listing.
AnotherĀ GOLD tin with has someĀ GOLD themed swaps. A couple of different things in there take a couple if with kids, no need to keep theĀ GOLD theme going.
Please replace theĀ GOLD letterbox with the flatĀ covering rocks on top 
. Note in the log ifĀ you have trouble with the 'fortification'. Otherwise it could stick out out like aĀ sore thumb, aĀ GOLD one at that, likeĀ GOLDfinger.Ā Mr CNQ walks past here after several times a week and can check the integrity of the rock camo if required.
