I don't know how old this bridge is, it was here when Henry B. duPont built a private airfield at this location in 1924. When Charles Lindbergh landed here in 1927 he probably saw this bridge. It was here when this property was used for Navy flight training and a base for the Civil Air Patrol during World War II. The new road bypassed it and it sat unused for years. The airfield was closed after the war and this property became the DuPont Barley Mill office complex, and then a shopping center, condominiums and multi-use property.
