This is the IOOF (Independent Order of Odd Fellows) cemetery for early Las Cruces. It was active from about 1893 to the early 1920s. By reading some the headstones, it amazing how young some of them were. Such is life, and death, on the frontier. Pat Garret was originally buried hers but whis remins were later transferred to the Masonic Cemetery, across the road.
