Fitzroy Park is an official war memorial to those of Palmerston North killed during WWII, and in 1954 was renamed as Memorial Park. "Enter not this park in sorrow but in pride, and strive to live as nobly as they died."
At the western end there is also a Workers' Memorial "to remember workers killed, injured or made ill at work."
So it's only appropriate we assemble as volunteer workers on this day, May 1st, designated International Workers' Day, May Day or Labour Day in most of the world, to clean up trash in Memorial Park.
