Congrats cokelover on the FTF!!!

Welcome to the second Maryland Auto Racing History Series (MDARHS) hide located on the grounds of where Dorsey Speedway used to be. This location in particular would have been in the pit area outside of turns 3 and 4. Standing on this man-made hill and looking out over the parking lots and office buildings, I find myself trying to fall back in time.... Maybe it's just the fumes from Rt.100, but I swear I smell the high octane race fuel and the heated motors. A humid summer breeze seems to keep hitting my face even though it is early April. The energy of 20+ race cars all roaring to life at the start of a race is still living in this air. The passion and love for motorsport is still living in this air. Coordinates will bring you to a familiar host. Please use some stealth here. Log has been strategically folded and placed in the container, please replace log into container as intended. NO SWAG NO MATTER HOW SMALL.

A little history on Dorsey Speedway:

The original Dorsey Speedway was built in 1950 at the intersection of Dorsey Rd, Route 176, and U.S. 1, and was 1/5th of a mile long. They say it lasted for one 25-car race before drainage problems forced the construction of a second track at the same site. It was a little bit longer at 1/4 of a mile dirt oval. The track went thru a few more configuration changes but spent most of its years as a 1/4 mile dirt oval with a figure-8 track option. From what I can gather, late model racing was most popular with many professional and local drivers on the track's dirt oval, while many spectators still talk about the track's figure-8 and demolition derby races. There is still a passionate group of fans and drivers on Facebook, sharing memories of the last local dirt track. Dorsey Speedway was family owned all the way up to 1985 when the property was sold for $2 Million to make way for the business centre that lives here now.  Attached is a couple ariel picture overlays of where the track sat.

I wonder how many people that work in these buildings know that there used to be a popular professional racing facility right beneath their feet. Did you know about this track? Do you have memories of coming here to see racing? Please leave all info and memories you have of this place! I am a huge racing fan and would have loved to spend my Saturday nights at this awesome track. Now you have to drive close to an hour in any direction to find anything like Dorsey Speedway. There is one more cache in the area of this track, go find it! Be on the look out around Maryland for more hides for this series, I'm planning some kind of prize for anyone who keeps up and finds them all first, may take a couple months to finish, may take a year or so... stacking up the list of tracks right now!!!
