Geocache Description:

The geocache is not at the posted coordinates. They are the starting point for this Letterbox Hybrid geocache.

I placed a Reference Point on the page for those not familiar on how to enter the park. Park open 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM. This park gets busy at times, so the parking waypoint may not be available all the time. You may have to improvise.

This is a Letterbox Hybrid geocache. You must follow the directions below to be able to locate the geocache.

Inside the geocache is a rubber stamp and an ink pad. These items are not for trade. Please leave them in the cache.

Many geocachers make an impression of the geocache's stamp in their note books. There is a piece of felt in the cache. Please wrap the rubber stamp in the felt after use. There is a log book for you to sign and/or leave your stamp impression (not from the one in the cache).

Take note of the "complete" color listed of the ink pad and the rubber stamp's image. I may use this information in the future.

Directions to the geocache:

  • Use the listed coordinates to start on a path that parallels the creek.
  • When you are approximately one tenth of a mile from the listed coordinates, the creek bends a little to the left and there is a trail to the right.
  • Take this trail on the right up a short, steep hill. Once at the top, take the Blue Trail to the right.
  • After walking about 100 feet on the Blue Trail, take a left to stay on the Blue Trail.
  • Mark a waypoint at this location.
  • Once you're about 600 feet from your marked waypoint (as the crow flies, not distance traveled), you should see a very large, tall, hollow stump with its broken trunk on the ground 30 feet off of the trail to the left.
  • Continue up the hill on the trail for about 100 feet. Look to the left. You should see a pair of fallen pines creating an "X".
  • Follow the larger, longer pine along its length to the left.
  • The end of this fallen tree has its top cut off. That’s because there’s another trail here.
  • Continue on an imaginary line (crossing the trail) in the same direction as this fallen tree.
  • You will encounter another trail in a short distance.
  • Once standing on the second trail (with your back still facing the pine tree you were following), in front of you just to your left. 30 feet off of the trail, you'll see another large fallen tree.
  • Follow this fallen tree to the root ball. You'll find the geocache there.
