Geocache Description:

01 May 2022, 09:00 - 10:30

This event normally occurs on the 1st Sunday of each month from 9AM to appx. 10:30AM. We will bee gathering at Mae's Restaurant in Geneseo, NY, just across the flat from the gateway to Letchworth State Park, rated the #1 state park in the nation in 2015. You will find us in the "back room". You may park free at the posted coords not far from the entrance, Everyone is welcome to attend. We specialize in newbies!

We rely on the GPS (Global Positioning System) more than we think, it has transformed the way we live and the world around us. Our lives would be very different if we didn’t have the GPS technology we know and use daily; even geocaching falls into this category. This is all possible because of one bright day on May 2, 2000—or as geocachers call it—Blue Switch Day. Selective Availability made the use of GPS technology unavailable to the general public. In the United States, the military was the only entity with access to this technology until May of 2000; the U.S. government “flipped the switch” and made GPS available to all. Geocachers proudly call this day Blue Switch Day, and this year we’re celebrating with a new souvenir! With the excitement of the new accurate GPS technology in the palm of our hands, there were endless opportunities for innovation and exploration waiting around the globe. It’s no coincidence that the first geocache was hidden one day later, on May 3, 2000, the day geocaching was born! Starting on April 30 through May 2, you can earn the Blue Switch Day 2022 souvenir by finding a geocache, Adventure Lab® Location, or by attending an Event.

Welcome To the Bee Hives Breakfast with the

BEE HIVE!

☆☆Please post if you plan to attend and an approximate number count no later than the Friday preceding the Bee Hive Breakfast! Then, we can give them plenty of time to prepare for us.This is especially important for us with a new venue! Thanks!.☆☆

There will be a drawing at each event for FTF, and assorted raffle items. If you have a raffle item you would like to donate, please bring it along.

Following the breakfast, it is not unusual for a number of folks to have plans to go caching together.

This event is being hosted by The Bee Hive. The Hive includes a number of local cachers in Western New York State who have become friends with Mr. KillerB himself. As everyone knows, a Hive needs lots of "worker bees" and everyone is invited to come and join us in our festivities.

The event was originally posted as "Breakfast with Helga at the Paleolithic Diner" (GC1D0WJ) on 6/22/2008. The "Second Generation" was in the form of "Breakfast With the Bee Hive"(GC1PMKD) on 4/19/2009. We invite you to check out these previous events to learn some of our history and access our many photos of past good times. We have enjoyed the community spirit that the events helped to garner over the years, and it is in that spirit that we have decided to keep this event alive.

Event time: 9AM on Sunday 5/1/22.

Event location: Mae's Restaurant, 4182 Lakeville Road, Geneseo, NY 14454 - Park at the posted coords and come on in. Let's bee sure to let them know how much we appreciate their hospitality!
