I did something today I've never done before — walked by a spot, thought it needed a cache, and threw one down on the spur of the moment.
After redeeming a DNF at CSI #2 (GC9P4KA) today, I walked back to my car parked for free on residential streets between Catalina and PCH, and passed through Czuleger Park. The park is named after William F. “Bill” Czuleger who never lost a Redondo Beach mayoral election. First elected in 1961, he was re-elected to three more terms before being forced out of office in 1977 due to limited number of times you could hold the office.
This is a walk/jog route I take every Super Bowl Sunday from free parking @ Redondo Union HS to the start/finish line of the RB Super Bowl 5K/10K on N. Harbor Dr. I remember we found a cache at the park's beautiful viewpoint up near Catalina years ago, and thought to myself: "This spot still begs for a cache." Originally this wouldn't be thought of as part of St. Hart's 'Hood, but we now have an Adventure Lab at the RB Pier and our stretch a CA 1 Adventure runs virtually right by here, so why not? I had a small bag of supplies along, so I selected a spot and container, placed the cache, and got the coordinates.
BYO pen/pencil. 9/15/23 Replacement: Cache is still in a great view spot; hidden out of sight, but it's a sorta familiar type of hide. TOTT may be needed to extract logsheet. Please replace securely where cache must be found by feel.
Enjoy the park and views, and especially the immediate environ of the cache. Note that park hours are roughly dawn to dusk; please be considerate of residents in nearby condos/apartments.
