In 2010 Chorus began a cabinet art initiative to try and reduce vandalism to their telecommunications cabinets. It has proved so successful it has been extended throughout NZ and showcases some stunning artwork by local artists. Some of this art can be seen in Kiwimykl's excellent CCA series in Marlborough and on which this series is based.
This cabinet is on Marsden Road which leads to the Ararangi Reserve with a nature walk through bush.
Further on is mining territory so the cabinet is painted with a mining scene depicting a dredge carrying lumps of gold next to a pile of gold. Mining has long been a part of New Zealand's history and probably none more so than on the West Coast of the South Island.

This artwork is by Mark Haldane.
