Dogs (Canis familiaris) are domesticated from the wolf. They were domesticated over 15,000 years ago. Dogs have become adapted to human behaviour and perform may roles for humans such as hunting, protection, aiding disabled people, herding, therapy, pulling loads, and assisting police and military. There are more than 450 breeds of dogs. They have an average life span of 10-13 years depending on the breed. They trully are man's best friend.
