Geocache Description:

Congratulations to fsibero for First-To-Find.

The fourth in a series of nine, taking you to all of the communities of Goshen County, Wyoming.
Torrington, Lingle, Ft. Laramie, Jay Em, Huntley, Veteran, Yoder, Hawk Springs and La Grange.

(Actually, there is a tenth, bonus cache, if you complete all nine. There will be a piece of information/clue in each cache, on a popsicle stick.
Make sure you put the clue back in the cache.)

Wyoming is my adopted state, with Torrington, Goshen County, as my adopted town.    I have finally started hiding caches and wanted to see more mystery types, so I'm creating a Mystery Cache hide in each community in Goshen County.  The physical caches shouldn't be too hard to locate, and the Mystery puzzles can all be solved from home with a little research.  They are probably on the simple end of the spectrum and may be suitable to introduce new geocachers to mystery puzzles.

Jay Em - Unincorporated Community  Wikipedia

The site of the town was a watering hole on old Texas Trail. The land around the watering hole was claimed by Jim Moore (d.1875) in the 1860s. By 1869, Moore had the second largest cattle ranch in the Wyoming Territory, under the brand "J Rolling M", from which the community and "Jay Em Creek" would take later their names.

From what information I can find, the namesake James (Jim) Moore was a famous Pony Express rider.   Link

Current population for the community is difficult to determine.  Jay Em is not listed as a separate census area.  The whole zip code had a population of 48, but that is an area of 112 sq. miles. I've seen estimates of the town population from 11 to 15, though for what years, I don't know

And there IS a post office in Jay Em.

And there are a lot of the buildings from the 1920s & 1930s standing
