The original Colorado Spirit Quest #446 - Evergreen Memorial Park was archived on August 8, 2018. I am keeping this one going by placing a new container in a slightly different spot and with the permission of the CSQ "manager" Joe Friday.
History of park:
Evergreen Memorial Park is a tribute to the pioneers of Evergreen and the Old West. Surrounded by mountains and evergreens, the 100-acre park is graced by rolling meadows, rustic cabins, and a beautfiul barn overlooking a reservoir and the foothills. The Barn Chapel is an assembly of 5 historic barns ranging from seventy to over one hundred years old. The barn features beautfiul antique stained-glass windows, large picture windows and welcoming interior.
Founders Ron and Carol Lewis Strive to perserve the heritage of the Old West at Evergreen Memorial Park. They have collected historically signficant anitques and artifacts of the Old West displayed in the main building and property. Much of the land is used as a private animal ranch home to Elk, Deer, Fallow, Buffalo and Yaks. The pride of the perserve is the buffalo herd, including a handful of the iconic White Buffalo, the spirtiual leader of the plains Native Americans. Within the property are three restored stone and timber cabinets located in the "Gardens of the Pioneers".
"COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST"
The Colorado Spirit Quest is a series of Caches started in 2008. Placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have 'walked' before us. There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural and mountain communities across Colorado. This series will introduce you to many of them. The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries and tombstones.
The Colorado Spirit Quest endeavor is an enormous and relentless task. It cannot be accomplished by just one or two people. This project will only flourish if there is a multitude of volunteer cachers willing to place these caches.
After locating the cache container, take some time to reflect back on the lives of those pioneers and the effort it took to make Colorado such a great state.
