Blackbird Rd dead ends at the Shaw Marsh State Wildlife Area. The sign says uses of this area are hiking, hunting and trapping. There are no formal hiking trails here, just deer trails and footpaths. Extra caution will be needed during fall hunting seasons. The cache is a short hike from the parking area. It is a small camoed cylinder, larger than a pill bottle. There is room for small swag and trackables.
Update ** I moved the location of this cache due to much overgrowth that obscured the footpath and had lots of wild parsnip. The cache is about 30' from the parking lot now. See updated coords: N43 24.704 W088 49.406.
The Geocache Notification form has been submitted to the Wisconsin DNR, Eric Kilburg, Wildlife Biologist, Bureau of Wildlife Management, Horicon Wildlife Area, N7725 State Road 28, Horicon, WI, 53032. The Shaw Marsh is under state, not county jurisdiction.
