Quinette Cemetery

Quinette Cemetery is listed as the oldest African American cemetery west of the Mississippi River. It is believed that 125-150 people are buried here, mostly in unmarked graves. In the late 1980's this cemetery was given to the city of Kirkwood after many years of neglect. Since then many improvements have been made and a very nice memorial to the 5 known veterans who are buried here. It is now one of the City of Kirkwood's parks. Please take your time to look around this quiet wooded area, and read the plaques at the gate that tell the history of this place. Please be respectful and practice any CITO while you are here, not that I've ever seen much trash here to remove.

To find this cache, go to either of the park maps and find spot #7. Go to that spot within the cemetery and make a simple projection, 120' at a bearing of 306º You are looking for a small lock 'n lock container hidden at the base of a tree. Just go around to the backside, reach in, no need to remove any of the surrounding geoflage. Please return it to it's hiding spot, it shouldn't be easily visible to anyone. Thank you!

This park is at 12120 Old Big Bend Blvd.

This being a cemetery, no night caching and any logs indicating this was found at night will be deleted!
