Tribbles are perhaps the most iconic of the animals seen in the Star Trek canon. They first appeared in the Star Trek episode The Trouble With Tribbles. Tribbles reproduce at an incredible rate. Dr. McCoy tells Kirk that, “The nearest thing I can figure out is they’re born pregnant, which seems to be quite a time saver.” Let us assume that a single tribble will have a litter of ten babies every 12 hours.
