Geocache Description:

This is being placed after my cache called "The Bindle Cache" (GC99K86) in this park was overrun by development. We came here hoping to replace it, with the same principle, but there was not a suitable enough spot for what was needed. Instead, we were able to find a spot for a different type of cache, probably more devious than The Bindle Cache. That is why The Bindle Cache was archived instead of the coordinates changing. Oddly enough, tomorrow will have marked The Bindle Cache's 1 year anniversary.

About the Park:

I want to have one in this park because I have fond memories of this park growing up in this area. I rememebr way back when the playground here was all purple and we used to call the whole park, the Purple Playground.  As kids, my sister and I only ever played on the playground, so that is what we dubbed the whole park. And we jsut loved the alliteration as well. It was always exciting when we got to go to the Purple Playground. Partly because this park was a regular stop for the Ice Cream Truck, and we would always be hopeful that he would come while we were there. Now, they have completely changed the playground. It is still nice, but it can never compare to the legend of what the Purple Playground was. To this day, I still refer to this park as the Purple Playground. The Ice Cream Man doesn't stop here as often, but it still has plenty of kids coming here. I thought this would be a nice place to bring cachers and commemorate my former stomping grounds as well. You can enjoy the park afterwards. Definitely bring your kids, especially on a nice day.

Things to Awknowledge:

  • There are similar aspects of this cache that The Bindle Cache had.
  • You may find something useful whilst searching. Everything is where it is for a reason.
  • Please replace everything back exactly as you found it, or better.
  • This cache is near a resident's house. Funnily enough, he came out while we were searching for a spot and we got into a fun conversation about geocaching. He had heard about it, but hadn't done it in about 10 years. He loved the idea of a cache being placed here, but please be considerate and don't look for this at night. You can't night cache any way since this is on Fairfax County Park land. Just know they know about the cache and may see you searching for it.

  • Please do not post any pictures or spoilers in your log for other cachers enjoyment.

Congratulations to Thompsonkickers for the well earned FTF after other cachers tried, and she herself had tried once before. She was FTF on preceding The Bindle Cache as well.

Have fun and Happy Caching!
