Muriau Tref Conwy / Conwy Town Walls
Please Note: Parts of the walls are currently closed off. It is still possible to enter the game zones and play from street level (at low tide). For this reason I have not disabled the cache.
Built on top of the native Welsh Abbey of Aberconwy, Conwy and its walls were constructed by Edward I of England after a successful conquest of Wales in the 13th century. Building on top of such highly regarded sites was a typical colonial act to symbolise the power and might of the English crown. Despite the Welsh rebellions these walls have seen since, they stand almost unchanged some 800 years on, making Conwy one of the finest examples of a medieval fortified town in Europe.
This Wherigo gets you to walk the wall between the Conwy Estuary and the town’s train station.
You can download the cartridge HERE
You will find the cache playing the Wherigo cartridge, go to the posted coordinates and play the cartridge to start!
Useful real-world things:
If you’ve never played Wherigo before (and don’t own a particular type of GPS which allows you to play them) you can download the free Whereyougo app to a smartphone, to which you can download and play the cartridge. Think AdLab, turn multicache!
If you use the parking waypoint, I suggest starting this cache as you walk back to the car rather than making it the first one of the day.
The walk is no longer than 500m and shouldn’t take too long to complete.
Please let me know about your experience in your log! Positive or negative feedback would be very helpful to improve this, or any future Wherigo caches I may place.
