The Solar System
This is a small series that displays the distances the planets are from the sun on a scale of one meter to a million kilometers.
So every meter you walk is a million kilometers.
Rutherglen's Bottle represents the sun on this scale. Except that it should be about 1.4 meters in diameter not 9 meters.
There is a traditional cache for each planet (even Pluto gets a guernsey!)
When you reach Pluto you have traveled 5.9 billion kilometers.
Enjoy the walk (bike ride, or most likely 4WD).
The Planet
Jupiter contains more than twice as much material as all the other planets combined. The atmosphere is thousands of kilometres deep with hydrogen, helium, methane and ammonia. It has at least seventy moons and a faint ring system. One of Jupiter's largest moons Io, is the only other volcanic planet or moon in the Solar System.
Europa has an ice crust above an ocean of water. Ganymede, the largest moon in the Solar System is made up of rock and ice.
'The Great Red Spot' is a cyclonic storm up to three times the Earth's diameter, that has been observed for at least 300 years.
