Geocache Description:

A series that will not only introduce you to some of the dog parks around the mornington peninsula but we will also be sharing some fun facts and information about a different breed of dog for every cache in the series! Although they are numbered they don't have to be done in order. We have also got our resident experts, Ebony (Gnome5580s geodog!) And Calypso (Beckgizs geodog!) Who will be giving each dog park a score of 1 to 5 paws depending on how much they approve of this park! 🐶 we hope you enjoy this series as much as Ebony and Calypso had testing each of these parks out 😉 and on that note here is their opinion of this park:

CRAIGIE ROAD RESERVE:

This reserve is more of a long strip of land with a walking track that eventually goes all the way to the Briars.  It's a great little way to spend some time with you're furry friends! You don't have to walk all the way, there's plenty of space to run and play not too far from the entrance. Just remember that dogs are not allowed into the Briars! There is definitely plenty of room, lots of nice shaded areas and a small amount of parking at the entrance but unfortunately there's no bins, seating or water so for this reason Ebony and Calypso give this park a score of 2 out of 5 paws! The breed we have chosen for this cache is the:

Rhodesian Ridgeback:

Rhodesian Ridgeback is a large-sized dog breed bred in the Southern Africa region. Its forebears can be traced to the semi-domesticated ridged hunting dogs of the Khoikhoi. These were crossed with European dogs by the early colonists of the Cape Colony of southern Africa.

Life expectancy: 10 – 12 years

Common nicknames: Ridgeback

Temperament: Sensitive, Mischievous, Dignified, Intelligent, Strong Willed, Loyal

Height: Female: 61–66 cm, Male: 63–69 cm

Weight: Female: 29–34 kg, Male: 36–41 kg

Colors: Red Wheaten, Light Wheaten, Wheaten

Origin: Rhodesia, South Africa, Zimbabwe

Also known as the African lion dog.  The Rhodesian Ridgeback's distinguishing feature is the ridge of hair running along its back in the opposite direction from the rest of its coat. It consists of a fan-like area formed by two whorls of hair (called "crowns") and tapers from immediately behind the shoulders down to the level of the hips. The ridge is usually about 2 inches (51 mm) in width at its widest point. It is believed to originate from the dog used by the original African dog population which had a similar ridge. The Ridgeback is currently the only dog breed indigenous to Africa.

The Cache:

You're looking for a 200ml sistema container hidden and camouflaged to blend in with its environment. Please remember to re hide the cache very well so that it's not seen by any passing muggles! Good luck and happy hunting! 🤠
