Geocache Description:

The Cache

The cache is a small screwtop container held in place by magnets, it contains only a log ...so BYOP...and you'll most likely need tweezers or the like to extract the log....careful now.

Please return exactly as found, thanks.

Recent heavy rain may add to the challenge of retrieving the cache, if so it is still very possible, if you are agile enough, to access the cache without being in the drink....you'll see once at ground zero.

The best approach is to follow the forestry track from the gate at the back of the car park area.

There are great views from Craig-Na-Shoke, (Carraig na Seabhac - the rock of the hawk), locally known as Eagle's Rock, and are worth the climb up. A pair of binoculars and a map would add to the experience of the views. From here you can pick out one of my other caches and if you have the time or the energy why not give it a go Me Da's white stone GC2P72X

Underfoot its all forestry tracks, with the exception of access to the cache site. Wear walking boots and suitable clothing for the weather conditions also bring light refreshments.

It’s not a cache and dash.

The parking area has had a makeover recently and there is now a gate on it which is locked at dusk by a local. There used to be a picnic table in the car park, but somehow it has been 'relocated' into the beech planting above the car park. From the car park you can find Frostbitex's Hudy's Rest cache.

Please do not go climbing on the actual basalt rock face of Craig-na-Shoke as the surface rock is quite loose in places.
