Tuckingmill Valley Park
I was surprised to discover that this regular dog walk of mine only had one geocache, so myself and my children thought we ought to do something about that!
This is a trail designed for children, so tubs big enough for swaps - as that is the first question my youngest asks about any potential cache!
It is a set of 3 traditional caches and one multi-cache designed to be completed simultaneously to provide interest for all ages.
Tuckingmill valley has been shaped by centuries of industrial activity, including the mining of tin and copper. Tin tailings works operated adjacent to the Red River throughout the 19th century, whilst the reworking of tailings from South Crofty continued until 1986. Other industrial activities in the valley included a gasworks, quarry, landfill tip and slate works. These activities all left their mark on the site creating the landform, pattern of vegetation and other features present today.
This first cache is a short walk from the car park, but well camouflaged! Happy hunting.
