Geocache Description:

Kevvie's Problems.  😕  (Kevvie's Story Continues...)

The Australian Koala Foundation estimates that there are less than 80 thousand of us still living at the moment throughout Australia.  That’s not many if you look at the map of where we can live ( GC9RPC5).

A lot of Koalas were killed in the early part of the previous century because our fur made nice clothes.  Millions of us we killed, they say.
Around 4 thousand die each year because of dogs and dingoes, and on roads by cars and trucks.

But what is really tough is when the bush is cleared for roads and houses or factories.  We have nowhere to go and live.  No food.  We get “Koala Stress” which makes us very sick.

Thank goodness some Councils understand.  Most of the bushland around here was bought back from farmers to help preserve our habitat.  Some people donated land, too.  I thank them.

Bushfires are a problem, too.  That’s why it is important to help make sure bushfires don’t happen.

Another problem is when our trees just die, apart from being old.  It’s called “Dieback”.  Eucalyptus dieback is a serious threat to many eucalypt-based ecosystems, and the causes are complex as the combination of issues such as drought, heatwaves, fire damage, insect attack and climatic change put major stress on our trees,” according to some experts.

But it’s time to go grab a cache and clue.
