2022年 栃木県民の日
栃木県民の日に制定されている6月15日は1873年に旧栃木県と宇都宮県が合併し栃木県が誕生した日です。この日を記念して、2022年の県民の日に栃木にゆかりのあるジオキャッシャーが募りキャッシュを公開しました。

The 15th June is Tochigi Citizens’ Day. Tochigi Prefecture was established on June 15, 1873 with the merger of Tochigi Prefecture and Utsunomiya Prefecture. Celebrating this day, Geocachers loved Tochigi have published caches.

かっぱ広場
栃木市西方町の思川右岸に、公園と遊歩道、野球場が設けられ、堤防には桜並木と菜の花畑があり、遠くは日光連山を見る事が出来る親水公園です。
この地域に伝わる、かっぱの伝説があったことから「かっぱ広場」として親しまれ、公園内にはかっぱの壁画や石碑があり、広場入り口の看板には、伝説の内容が記されています。
ここの駐車場では、河童なのに潜水が苦手なのか、装備バッチリの「夢の介」が自信満々で出迎えてくれます。
Kappa Park
A park, a promenade, and a baseball field are located on the right bank of the Omoigawa River in Nishikata-cho, Tochigi City. The park is a water park with rows of cherry trees and fields of rape blossoms on the bank, and the Nikko mountain range can be seen in the distance.
The park is also known as "Kappa Hiroba" because of the legend of kappas in the area. There are murals of kappas and stone monuments in the park, and a signboard at the entrance of the square describes the legend.
かっぱ伝説
昔々、小倉川（思川）は 清瀬川とよばれていました。
その頃、この川には橋も無く、旅人や近くの人達が歩いて川を渡ろうとすると、河童が現れては人々を困らせていました。
ある日、西方城の小倉主膳というお侍が川を渡ろうとした時も、河童が出てきて悪さをしようとしましたが、豪傑の小倉主膳は、逆にこの河童を捕まえ、切り捨てようとしました。
すると 河童は命だけは助けてほしいと涙をうかべてあやまったので「俺は小倉という者だ、今後、川を渡る者におぐらの名を聞いたら、決していたずらをするな！」と言って許してやると 河童はあやまって逃げていきました。
それを聞いた旅人が、川を渡るときは「俺は小倉だ」と言いながら渡るようになり、河童に悪さをされる事もなくなりました
それから、この川が小倉川と呼ばれるようになったと言い伝えられています。
kappa story
Once upon a time, the Ogura River (Omoi River) was called the Kiyose River.
At that time, there were no bridges over the river, and when travelers and people in the neighborhood tried to cross the river on foot, kappa (water imps) appeared, causing trouble for them.
One day, when a samurai named Ogura Shuzen of Nishikata Castle tried to cross the river, a kappa came out and did mischief, but Ogura Shuzen, the strongest of the samurai, caught the kappa and tried to cut it down.
The kappa apologized with tears in his eyes, asking only for his life to be spared. The kappa apologized and ran away.
Travelers who heard this began to cross the river saying, "I am Ogura," and the kappa's misdeeds ceased.
Later, it is said that this river came to be called the Ogura River.
