NoVAGO 2022 Best Series
This cache is being placed in association with the NoVA Chapter of the Military Association of GeoCachers (MAGC) event held nearby each month. If you haven't found the others in the series, they are all fairly close by, so I hope you have time to check them out.
My father didn't have anything to do with the Atomic Bombs referenced in the cache title, but he was a B-17 bomber pilot during WWII. He was very fond of his aircraft and its capabilities. I remember him telling me when I was a kid that the U.S. bombers used a Norden Bombsight, which was state of the art at the time. It was even used by the U.S. Air Force as late as the war in Viet Nam. Bomber crews would claim that with the Norden bombsight "they could drop a bomb down a smokestack from 25,000 feet". I'm sure that was a little bit of exaggeration, but can you imagine that?
This is a simple cache, and it should be a quick find for most geocachers once you get to GZ. You'll be walking a fairly short distance into a wooded area, so you may be exposed to poisonous plants, insects and critters. You'll have to step over some things along the way and it will likely be a bit slippery after a recent rain.
You will need your own writing instrument. There is no room for SWAG or trackables. Parking is available in an unrestricted parking lot close to GZ. You can also park along Brookfield Corporate Drive. This cache is available 24/7, but I recommend searching during daylight hours only.
YOU MUST SIGN THE LOG IN ORDER TO CLAIM IT AS "FOUND"!
