This park may not look like much, but it holds a place very near and dear to my heart.
Bob Newton Park, one of many fantastic parks in Keizer, was one of the first places I visited when I moved here. The creek, with the little bridge crossing it, was the thing that stuck out in my mind. The park was a go-to for me and my friends growing up, and we spent countless hours there talking, throwing a Frisbee, or just relaxing.
The Eagle Scout is the highest rank a Boy Scout can achieve. Getting to Eagle requires years of dedicated work, meetings, camping trips, and leadership. An Eagle Project is the last hurdle to the top rank in the Boy Scouts of America and must be a self-funded and managed act of substantial community service. My friend chose to install an irrigation system underneath the bridge in Bob Newton Park. This involved unearthing the area around the bridge, installing the pipeline, and covering it again, all while planting replacement grass seed and laying retaining blocks. It was a fabulous project, and his contribution will help immensely to prevent erosion to and around the bridge. This cache is dedicated to him, and his Eagle Project.
You can see the bridge and the rest of the park from the GZ--great way to spend an afternoon! Please be mindful and respectful--this area gets a lot of muggles, especially in the summertime! Replace exactly as found. Cache is log-only. Happy caching!
