This cache is hidden between the Rotokawa Pools and the Waitonga Falls, on the Waitonga Falls track which begins at the Ohakune Mountain road.
An easy walk to the falls, 4km return, that will take you 1hr 20min.
It is also part of the multi day walk around Mt Ruapehu, the "Round the Mountain Track" which can take 4-6 days.
On a fine day you will see views of Mount Ruapehu and if you are lucky, reflections of the mountain in the Rotokawa pools.
A boardwalk has been consturcted over this sensitive wetland area, the cache is hidden beneath the boardwalk, lean over and reach for the cache. Please rehide as found, it consists of several layers due to it being hidden in an alpine environment.
It is adviced to prepare for all weather conditions, so check the weather forecast, and consider taking:
A windproof/waterproof raincoat and overtrousers
Spare warm clothing
Wear sturdy, comfortable shoes or boots
Take food/snacks and water
Wear sunglasses and suncream
A basic first aid kit
