During the Second World War acres of land in Marchington were commandeered by the government in order to build a Military Station. Eventually this became a Prisoner of War Camp for Italian and German prisoners. You'll shortly travel through a small wood where allegedly there are carvings by the prisoners in some of the older trees - see if you can spot any, or any other signs of the camp while in the village.
This geocaching trail was laid in conjunction with the landowners along the route, the local councils, the "Transforming the Trent Valley" organisation, and the West Midlands Mega Crew. It was placed by the SOS group of Staffordshire Cachers.
