West Midlands 2022
Black Poplar
The Dove Explorer Trail: explore the landscape, histroy, and joyt of walking along the reletively flat meadows of the meandering River Dove before a short climb up the ridge to the village of Marchington. From there you can either follow another geocaching trail back to Uttoxeter, or on towards Hanbury & Tutbury, or perhaps catch the 402 bus back to town?
You'll meet docile livestock in almost every field between here and Marchington. Keep dogs under control. Take care in springtime.

This is the remains of a rather large black poplar. Imposing, elegant, rare: the black poplar was once a staple of Britain’s landscape but these days, the trees are few and far between. Here on Willow Farm there are a few still dotted around.

This geocaching trail was laid in conjunction with the landowners along the route, the local councils, the "Transforming the Trent Valley" organisation, and the West Midlands Mega Crew. It was placed by the SOS group of Staffordshire Cachers.
