West Midlands 2022
The River Dove
We meet the reason for our journey - the River Dove. Most of the water has come from the Peak District and much of the rest from the Staffordshire Moorlands via the Churnett, which joined the Dove in Rocester. It's not got long to go, though, as after Tutbury it merges with the Trent near Burton-on-Trent.
There is no way a river like this could have created such a wide, flat-bottomed valley like the one we're walking, right? If you would like to find out more about the river, how it works, and how it shapes the land around you, look for 'earthcache' icons on the geocaching map and have a read. If you can make some observations and answer the questions you can earn another 'smilie' for those, too!
Meanwhile, the cache here is quite simple. It's over there on the right, by that post.

This geocaching trail was laid in conjunction with the landowners along the route, the local councils, the "Transforming the Trent Valley" organisation, and the West Midlands Mega Crew. It was placed by the SOS group of Staffordshire Cachers.
