West Midlands 2022
Woodford Pillbox Cache
There is a 'shortcut' cache up the track to help you make a shorter loop back to Uttoxeter via GC9W66N (Sunny Delight) or back to Marchington via GC9W66H (Pottering Around).

The pillbox here is one of a series of pill boxes along the river system of Britain and were felt to be a vital ‘backstop’ of defence when the plans were drawn up in the late 1930s. This seems less strategic that others we've seen, but consider that communications via the farmhouse would have made this an excellent look-out post as well as a last line of defence for the access to the ridge behind. Many pill boxes were placed as much for communications and information as for tactical firepower.
The 2022 Mega team are working with the TTTV folks and to find out more about Pill Boxes in the Trent Valley area, why not visit their site and read more?

This geocaching trail was laid in conjunction with the landowners along the route, the local councils, the "Transforming the Trent Valley" organisation, and the West Midlands Mega Crew. It was placed by the SOS group of Staffordshire Cachers.
