Hippie Inn Travel Bug Rest Stop.
The Hippie Inn is an old log structure located along side the Alaska Highway adjacent to the Jakes Corner lodge. (The lodge is no longer open to the public, however parking and gas is available.)
The log cabin was built back in (1970) by the owner of the lodge to supply refuge for hobos and hitchhikers as they travelled the Alaska Highway going south or north.
The travellers mostly of the Hippie life style would prefer not to spend what little money they had on a bed in the lodge, so the owner would offer them a free stay at the Hippie Inn.
Many a hitch hiker have found them selves at the junction of the Alaska Highway and Tagish Road hoping to catch a ride and been thankful for the refuge this old structure supplied when the weather got tough and cars were far and few.
Please enjoy the Geo cache that I have placed there and treat it as it is a historical Yukon treasure.
Remember you are in the Yukon and wild life does frequent the area; as always be bear aware!!
TRADE FAIRLY AND PLEASE LOG ALL TRAVEL BUGS AND COINS OUT OF RESPECT FOR THE CACHE AND THE OWNERS OF THE BUGS.
