Geocache Description:

Welcome to the inaugural MI_SUMMER_FUN series. In this series, there are 14 caches plus one mystery bonus cache. In order to locate the bonus, you need to visit this cache and 13 others in this series first. At each cache you will find a bonus code that will substitute in to the following phrase (observe the capitalization) and form the final coordinates (there is a checker at the bottom of the cache page).

Starting in 1956 people who resided in west Michigan could take a day trip and visit Deer Park – where children could pet deer, llamas, monkeys, and ducks. They could tour Storybook Land and then, in short order, a train was added to the park. In 1972, a new owner added a few carnival style rides (Tilt-a-Whirl, Merry-go-round, and a ferris wheel) and named his acquisition Deer Park Funland. Over the years, more rides were added and the park enjoyed modest success.

In 1988, the park was renamed Michigan Adventure and began to expand quite rapidly. More carnival rides were added and also, to the excitement of thrill seekers, more roller coasters began to appear. One of the most exciting additions was the water park. In most amusement parks, patrons need to buy a pass for the park and a pass for the water features. At Michigan Adventure one price covers both parks.

In 2001, Cedar Fair (who owns and operates Cedar Point as well as other parks) purchased Michigan Adventure and began to add more and more exciting features. The amusement park has a special Camp Snoopy area with children's rides and activities. There is also a miniature golf course. Michigan Adventure truly has a lot of great options for everyone. Personally, we'd love to see more roller coasters, but hey, that's just our personal preference!

In order to find this cache, you must start at the posted coordinates which will bring you to a sign on a trail. Face the sign and then turn to the left and walk along the bike path. When you reach the parking lot - keep going until you see a drive going to the left. Turn left towards Impact Church. On your left you will see some trees and then a mowed area - turn to the left and walk on the grass along the tree line. Keep looking to the left and you will soon see an opening in the trees (if you look through the opening you can see the playground and sidewalk). Face the sidewalk and then look to your right for a downed tree. Head to the tree and you will find the treasure that you seek.
