Geocache Description:

Welcome to the inaugural MI_SUMMER_FUN series. In this series, there are 14 caches plus one mystery bonus cache. In order to locate the bonus, you need to visit this cache and 13 others in this series first. At each cache you will find a bonus code that will substitute in to the following phrase (observe the capitalization) and form the final coordinates (there is a checker at the bottom of the cache page).

Yummmmmm! Who doesn't love a Pronto Pup? One of the best tastes of summer, usually only available in the summer!

The Pronto Pup was invented in Rockaway Beach, Oregon by husband and wife George and Versa Boyington in the late 1930s. The Boyingtons ran a small hot dog stand on the beach, selling the dogs to tourists and locals. When the rain came and ruined the buns, George Boyington came up with the idea of cooking a "bun" as needed. He created a pancake batter based mix that is still used today. The Pronto Pup made its big debut from a fountain shop window owned by the Boyingtons in Portland, Oregon. Right from the start, the tasty treat was a Fan Favorite!

What's the difference between a Pronto Pup and a traditional corn dog? The batter recipes are very similar - and both include cornmeal. The real differences are batter, taste, and texture. Pronto Pups have a thinner batter with a crispy texture and a hint of saltiness to them while the traditional corn dogs have a thicker batter with a fluffy texture and are sweeter.

To those of us in the West Michigan area, the first thing that comes to mind when you say Pronto Pup is the location in Grand Haven, near Lake Michigan. Surprisingly, there is also a mobile Pronto Pup truck in the Grand Rapids area, and even a Pronto Pup location in Tawas Bay. So three opportunities to get your Pronto Pup fix in Michigan this summer!

To find THIS Pronto Pup location (the cache) you will be walking in a nice park with multiple caches on both sides of the river.
