Geocache Description:

Finally got this set after the pandemic.   Permit number ALL549

Ski Jumps in Allegany State Park? Yep! Allegany State Park was the site of the only two major ski jumps in all of the Western New York Area. They were built in 1935 in time to host the first Allegany State Park ski jumping tournament in February of 1935. The event drew 5000 spectators and attracted jumpers from all over the world. The jumps were last used on February 1979. Note the metal judging stands at each jump. This site will give you a feel for what the ski jumper sees as zooms into the air. You can park behind the administration building. Climb the stairs and look for the trail maps up the hill. Follow Red Jacket Trail to the cache. Please don't try to bushwhack. Red Jacket trail curves back to the administration building at the 50 meter jump.
