This cache has been placed very close to the centre of Thallon. The town was named after the Commissioner of railways Mr. J.F. Thallon in 1911. Across the road, you can see the railway tracks and tiny station, used for the trains that come in regularly to take huge harvests of prime grain to the Port of Brisbane. In 2012-13 Thallon silos recorded the second-highest grain intake in Queensland (behind Goondiwindi). Next door is The Francis Hotel, which also acts as a general store, a post office, and a tourist information centre. It was built in 1940 after the previous Borger"s Hotel burnt down.
