Geocache Description:

The Trestle Bridge at Safe Harbor has been refurbished. YEAH!!!!

The Enola Low Grade Trail is DAWN to DUSK only.

The township removed the observation deck that held the Greenhorn 5 cache - GC4P79K. Cache owner archived it as they don't cache much anymore. I asked the township about it and described the container (wood nestled in the joists under the deck). They found it and gave it to me. When I picked it up, the township manager said that there would be plenty of places to put a replacement because they were building a lookout location to provide great views.

Well, that sounds like a hint as well as explicit permission. I do have permission for caches in Manor Township parks.

Unfortunately, there isn't a tower or deck here. Plus the old container was weathered. So I can't reuse the container here: I'll find a home for it. I did carry it to groundzero in case I could manage to make it work. Instead, there was a bison tube tied to a stick nestled in the rocks. As of spring 2024, it's a beige pill bottle. Make sure you leave it covered. No rock climbing required; my feet were flat on the ground placing it.

Getting there: It is over 5 miles one-way from the head of the trail at Turkey Hill. Many people bike it. It is over 3 miles each way from the Colemanville Church Road parking. We take a shorter steeper hike down from Observation Road. I think that was over 3 miles round trip. You MAY be able to park at the dam under the bridge, go under the bridge, and hike up the trail and steep steps leading to the south end of the bridge. There's a No Trespassing sign there reminding you to stay away from the active train tracks; the ELGT is between that trail and the tracks but overhead. Stay on the hill side of that trail. That route is about a mile round-trip.

As an aside, I moved the Safe Harbor location of my Scenic Susquehanna Adventure Lab to the middle of the bridge. If you haven't done that yet, that could be a bonus find for you. Posted coordinates for the Adventure Lab are at Star Rock about halfway to Safe Harbor from the Turkey Hill parking.

Congratulations to NoBlueCircles and the kids on the FTF.
