West Midlands 2022
St Mary's Uttoxeter Catholic Church
This magnificent early Victorian church will be of great interest to budding architects - take a look at the windows, the lines, the original building behind the late Victorian frontage: this is the first Church designed by famous architect Augustus Pugin, the Gothic revival architect who went on to design the Palace of Westminster and the Clock Tower that houses Big Ben. Expanded in 1913 under the perhaps less subtle guidance of the local Bamford family, today you need to look to the side and the stained glass windows for the original style.
"I came that you might have life and have it in all its fullness"
John 10:10
