Guldrush betecknar en period då många personer får guldfeber och samtidigt beger sig till ett område för att leta guld. USA upplevde under pionjärtiden många guldrusher, såsom guldrushen i Kalifornien 1848–1849 och Alaska 1898.
Det mest kända exemplet är guldrushen i Klondike. Guldfynden i Klondike 1898-1899 resulterade i den största migrationen av guldgrävare i historien. Miljoner människor började resan mot rikedomen men bara några hundra tusen nådde Yukonterritoriet och det som blev Dawson City. Här fann man i stort sett svält, umbäranden och den svåraste vintern i mannaminne.
Det typiska för guldrushen är myten om rikedom (som några också når) och att det finns något för alla.

Gold rush refers to a period when many people get gold fever and at the same time go to an area to search for gold. During the pioneer period, the United States experienced many gold rushes, such as the California Gold Rush of 1848–1849 and the Alaska Gold Rush of 1898.
The most famous example is the Klondike gold rush. The Klondike gold discoveries of 1898-1899 resulted in the largest migration of gold miners in history. Millions of people began the journey to riches but only a few hundred thousand reached the Yukon Territory and what became Dawson City. Here you found mostly starvation, hardship and the hardest winter in living memory.
Typical of the gold rush is the myth of wealth (which some also reach) and that there is something for everyone.
