Geocache Description:

From MM2, follow the woodland path, then take a brief detour up the hill where a public footpath diverges from the woodland path. Please take care as the path can get slippery in wet weather. The cache is a few metres off this footpath, shortly before some wooden steps and a metal gate. You are looking for a Lock & Lock container with a logbook and a swappable. You will need to bring a pen. Make a note of the letter within as the intention is that eventually there will be a bonus cache, once the loop is completed.

Wych Elm is the only truly native Elm tree in the UK. It usually grows in hilly or rocky woodland or by streams, but is far less common than it used to be due to its susceptibility to Dutch Elm Disease. In terms of benefits to wildlife, it provides a food source to birds with its seeds. The leaves are food for caterpillars of several species of moth and the White-Letter Hairstreak butterfly (information from The Woodland Trust website).
