St. Peter's church, Combwich.

This cache has been placed on what would have been my Gran's 100th birthday. She lived in Combwich for the majority of her life, and I have many memories of visiting the village. Her funeral was held in St. Peter's church, with an unexpected guest sparrow in for the service too!
My dad grew up in the village and attended the church. He made the wooden cross that sits in the Children's corner. His first puff of a cigarette was taken in the lychgate.... and by the time he'd got home (a few minutes walk away) the news had already reached his mum... She wasn't impressed!
In the lynch gate there is a plaque commemorating the men of the village who safely returned after the Great War.
Pause for a moment and contemplate what these men must have witnessed.
Count the surnames of those men who returned. Many of these surnames are known to me from my grandparents talking about village life and the descendants who still lived in Combwich.
