🌟 Today I took a liking to visiting the newly opened Gibbon's track, it has reopened at long last after about 4 years of closure due to Kauri dieback and a Rahui placed on the track by Maori. It was an excellent day for a walk btw. Muir track is also open again which takes you down to one of my fav places in the Waitakeries - Pararaha valley. You can now safely walk from Whatipu to Karekare. Take note of the excellent wooden walkway at Pararaha, we didn't walk that far today. Another adventure for sure on another day.Â
🌟 I picked up my caching buddy rustynz along the way, who was also keen to come along for a good walk and exercise and we got to see some wonderful scenery along the cliff edges, there are great views of the Whatipu beach all the way up to Pararaha valley. But I don't remember all those stairs coming up from Whatipu! I'm sure the walk wasn't this difficult last time, perhaps after 4 1/2 years, I'm getting older and finding the walk tougher...lol.
🌟 So after checking on my cache along Gibbons track, we walked a bit further and placed a few caches here and there and back again.
🌟 We placed this cache after our walk while heading back to the carpark, fotos were taken, co-ords sorted, I couldn't get a bearing closer than 6m which was annoying, but the decent hint will get you to the hide though. Enjoy!  Â
