West Midlands 2022
Fauld Explorer Trail
This trail starts on the outskirts of Tutbury and ends on the approach to Hanbury, passing the area of Fauld, including the notable industrial park, the gypsum mines, and the historic Fauld Crater. The walk to Hanbury is about 5km (3 miles). There's another walk after Hanbury to Marchington that's another 7km (5 miles), and then a tird walk on to Uttoxeter another 5km, for a total Tutbury-to-Uttoxeter journey of 17km (about 11 miles).
There is a train between Uttoxeter and Tutbury (Hatton Station), and a bus (route 402).
The walk starts on the Tutbury flood plain, climbs the ridge at Fauld, down again after Hanbury, and then up again at Marchington before the final drop to the Dove Explorer Trail along the Uttoxeter flood plain. Lovely views make the climb well worth while but be careful if it’s been raining recently.
There are pubs along route in Hanbury and Marchington and all know about the Mega Event August 1-8 so say you are a geocacher if you stop at one of them.
