North Road Railway Station opened in 1842 on the 1st April as Darlington, it was the original station on the Stockton and Darlington Railway. It was renamed Darlington North Road in 1868 when the main station was rebuilt on the East Coast Mainline, then North Road in 1934. Nearby Skerne Bridge is the oldest continuous used railway bridge in the world at almost 200 years old. Today the station building is now a railway museum.
