The Cornish Estate was built in 1910. NYC businessman Edward Cornish and his wife Selina Bliss Carter Cornish lived there. Mr Cornish was the president of the National Lead Company, and he furnished a grand estate consisting of a mansion, swimming pool, gardens and other outbuildings. Sadly, the couple died within weeks of each other in 1938 and the estate was inherited by a nephew. The grounds fell into disrepair and a fire destroyed most of the mansion in 1958.
This cache is off of the dirt side trail near the Cornish Estate. There is no need to rock scramble from the paved path.
