Cmentarz wojenny w Opolu Lubelskim założono w czasie I Wojny Światowej, w dawnej wsi Woli Rudzkiej. Pochowano na nim kilkuset żołnierzy armii austro-węgierskiej i armii rosyjskiej. Żołnierze ci polegli w walkach toczonych w okolicach Opola Lubelskiego w sierpniu i wrześniu 1914r. oraz wiosną 1915r. Pochowano tu także żołnierzy radzieckich poległych podczas II Wojny Światowej.
Przez długi czas cmentarz stał zaniedbany do roku 2009, kiedy podjęto decyzję o renowacji przy finansowym wsparciu Lubelskiego Urzędu Wojewódzkiego oraz Austrackiego Czarnego Krzyża. Teren został uporządkowany, odnowiono trzy nagrobki będące po lewej stronie cmentarza, a w jego centrum postawiono pomnik z granitu poświęcony pamięci poległych żołnierzy obu armii. Cały teren ogrodzono drewnianymi żerdziami i przy wejściu ustawiono dwie tablice informacyjne.
Cmentarz nie jest od razu widoczny z ulicy prowadzącej do Puław, bo na pierwszy rzut oka wygląda jak rzadki las. Mimo to, można przyjść i pomodlić się za dusze poległych w obu wojnach żołnierzy.

The war cemetery in Opole Lubelskie was established during World War I, in the former village of Wola Rudzka. Several hundred soldiers of the Austro-Hungarian army and the Russian army were buried there. These soldiers died in battles fought near Opole Lubelskie in August and September 1914 and in the spring of 1915. Soviet soldiers killed during World War II were also buried here.
For a long time the cemetery stood neglected until 2009, when it was decided to renovate it. The area was cleaned up, three tombstones on the left side of the cemetery were restored and a granite monument was erected in its centre, commemorating the fallen soldiers of both armies. The whole area was fenced with wooden poles and two information boards were placed at the entrance.
The cemetery is not immediately visible from the street leading to Puławy, as at first glance it looks like a sparse forest. Nevertheless, you can come and pray for the souls of the soldiers who fell in both wars.
